CBSE Class 10 and 12 New Assessment Scheme 2022-23: For the new academic session 2022-2023, the Central Board of Secondary Education has revised the assessment policy for Class 10. The board has decided to abandon the term-by-term assessment system that was implemented in the 2021-22 school year. At the end of the academic year, there will be only one board examination. Aside from that, a focus will be placed on transitioning from rote to competency-based learning. In the coming sessions, a greater number of Competency-Based Questions, or questions that assess the application of concepts in real-life/unknown situations, will be included in the question paper because of the new assessment policy.

Year-End Exam/Board Exam (Theory)
The annual board examination for Class 10 will be held at the end of the academic session, 2022-23, according to the modified assessment scheme. The exam will be entirely based on the CBSE Curriculum 2022-23, with questions drawn from the entire syllabus, which will be available on the board’s website. The main difference is that the paper will include more competency-based questions. According to the board’s circular, the new examination pattern will provide students with the skills they need to face the challenges of the twenty-first-century head-on.
Board Exam Question Paper Composition
According to the revised CBSE Class 10 assessment policy, the exam pattern for the annual board exams will be different from previous years, testing students more based on their competency skills. The CBSE Board Class 10 Exam 2023 Question Papers will follow the following pattern in terms of question typology:
- 40% of the questions are competency-based: These questions can be multiple-choice, case-based, source-based integrated or any other type of question
- 20% Objective Type Questions
- 40% of the questions are short answer/long answers (as per the existing pattern)
- In Class 10 term 1 and Term 2 exams of 2022, 30% of the questions were competency-based

The board will soon release Sample Papers following the updated curriculum. The sample papers will adhere to the new exam format.
