Hybrid Learning

By integrating the best features of the in-person classroom with technology-based eLearning methodologies, hybrid learning facilitates overall growth.

An increasingly important approach: Hybrid Learning

If you’re familiar with eLearning in any capacity, you’ve likely heard about blended or Hybrid learning. It’s a paradigm that has gained vogue in recent years, with eLearning practitioners and learners alike extolling its perks.

EdTech: how it is promoted by Hybrid learning

Education Technology or simply EdTech is a process of implementing the use of modern-day technologies to innovate the learning process. It is very advantageous and provides a personalized educational experience. But how is it related to Hybrid learning? Does Hybrid learning encourage the use of EdTech? If yes, then how? In this blog, we will try to find the answers to all these questions.

Let us sunder our blog in two parts.

  1. This part will deal with in-person learning.
  2. It will relate to online learning processes.

In-person learning

It is the conventional form of learning, and most educational institutes use this form of teaching. Earlier, there used to be a blackboard with chalk to write on it in schools, but now the situation is entirely different. Continuously changing technology has brought a revolution in traditional classrooms, and nowadays, EdTech has become an inherent part of knowledge. Below are some of the points which describe the use of EdTech in stereotyped classrooms:

  • Digital boards: This is one of the best facilities one can imagine. These boards allow students to learn with visual aids in an independent as well as collaborative manner. Numerous benefits are associated with these boards. Some of which are: –
  1.  Interactive lessons: Students always find the new technology interesting as young minds are very enthusiastic about learning new things. Digital or Smart Boards are way ahead of what we used to do on blackboards. They provide video solutions and an immersive audio experience to increase engagement among students.
  2. Web conferencing: With Digital boards in action, there is no need for a separate source to communicate with students throughout the globe. Smartboards usually have built-in web conferencing software so that students can learn from multiculturalism.
  3. Use of colours: These boards also provide an option to switch between different backgrounds and colours to make learning free from any boredom. Students often remember more efficiently when they are taught with the help of different designs and animations.

  • Augmented Reality in schools: This is somewhat a new concept.AR can enable teachers to exhibit virtual illustrations of theories and incorporate gaming components to provide textbook material assistance, making classroom instruction more exceptional and engaging.

Online learning

Remote learning or Online learning is in trend nowadays because of the ongoing Corona Pandemic. Millions of students are studying from these classes, making them a necessity of the future. Let us discuss how online learning can be related to EdTech and what are its benefits.

  • Gaming-based education: e-games always attract children irrespective of their age and gender. Children find such games very captivating, so why not fuse them with learning? Doing so will not only increase the participation of students in learning but also help teach them various skills like Problem-solving, Strategy development, etc.
  • Digital library: The drop in traditional library attendance shows that today’s users prefer to obtain information and consume content without physically visiting a library. Many libraries and colleges have already begun digitalization of their collections to make them more accessible to their clientele, especially students. Following benefits are associated with Digital libraries:

  1. Updated content: Chances are there that you won’t get access to the latest material and books in physical libraries, but that is not the case with Digital or e-libraries. Just because these are soft copy-based, they are cheap and pocket-friendly. Students who love reading and want to explore the related pieces of stuff can use these libraries.
  2. Time saver: Sometimes, all we require is a specific book, and it takes several hours to find it. It can waste lots of time, but the case is different here. Students who do not have even a few minutes of their time can directly search for the book they want with the help of a search box present on the website.

  • Simulation: When we were up for offline classes, practical sessions were possible. But, due to lockdown, everything has changed, and students are unable to see theoretical things happening for real. It is preventing learning with understanding. But there is a solution that can be one of the most crucial components of EdTech: Simulation that is the Modelling of actual phenomena and their observance without performing the same.

Key Takeaways

With this, we have reached the end of this blog, and to conclude with, EdTech is a brilliant resource and hence use it efficiently with hybrid learning, and you’ll surely see some positive results in your learning abilities.
