The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the admit cards for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2019 recently on the scheduled date at the official websites—nta.ac.in and jeemain.nic.in. Students who seek to study at the National Institute of Technology (NITs), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and other colleges, will participate in the JEE Main 2019 exam, which begins from January 9. As the exam is nearing, there are a lot of information that students are craving for, and the eligibility criteria is a significant one. If you fall under the parameters as set by NTA, your applications will be rejected, and you will not be allowed to sit in the JEE Main 2019.

JEE Main first attempt Paper 1 will be held from January 6 to January 20, and Paper 2 will be held on January 8 only in one shift. For the first paper, students will appear in an online computer-based test (CBT), while Paper 2 will be in pen and paper mode.

JEE Main 2019 Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit: To appear in JEE Main 2019, the candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1993. For the reserved categories, the age relaxation of 5 years is applicable. It shall further be noted that the date of birth as mentioned on the Secondary Education Board or University certificate will be taken into consideration.

Qualifying Exam: For JEE Main 2019, candidates will have to be clear the class 12 or qualifying exam in 2017 or 2018. Besides, those who are appearing in class 12 or equivalent exam in 2019 can also apply for JEE Main.

Subjects in Qualifying Exam: In the qualifying exam, the candidates must have studied at least five subjects—Language, Physics, Mathematics, any of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject and an additional subject.

Number of attempts: JEE Main 2019 candidates can appear in the exam for three years consecutively. From the coming year, NTA will conduct the exam twice a year, and you can choose to participate in both the attempts. But, the attempt for a particular academic year will be considered as one.

Any candidates satisfying the criteria above is eligible to sit at JEE Main 2019 examination. You will be granted admission if you qualify the JEE Main 2019. It shall be noted that the previous year JEE scores will not be considered. Those who qualify the upcoming entrance examination will be allowed to take admission to many colleges based on the scores and can also appear for JEE Advanced exam, a gateway to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Through the Central Seat Allocation Board, the candidate should at least secure 75 percent marks in class 12 or be in the top 20 percentile in the same standard conducted by the respective boards to be eligible for the entrance exam. For SC/ST candidates, the qualifying marks would be 65 percent in the higher secondary.
