Despite their poor performance in the international rankings, IITs have emerged as the top institutes in India’s NIRF rankings announced today. The top-ranking institute in India is IIT-Madras followed by IISc Bangalore and at third rank is IIT-Delhi
In the fifth NIRF ranking, in the university category, top rank is obtained by the IISc followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and at third rank is Banaras Hindu University (BHU). The top rank in terms of university, pharma, and overall category as well as in the college category remain the same. Miranda House is the top college in India and in the Pharma category, Jamia Hamdard has once again claimed the top position. IIT-Madras becomes best engineering college.
The number of Indian institutes which registered for the NIRF ranking this year has increased from 20 per cent as compared to last year.
