Top 7 Difficult Topics in JEE Main 2023 Physics

Students consider Physics to be one of their favourite subjects due to its ability to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Physics is also a major subject in high-level competitive exams like JEE Main. In the Physics section, questions generally focus on conceptual understanding of the subject. It is essential to have a solid foundation and practice of concepts before you can achieve a good rank.

Top 7 Difficult Topics in JEE Main 2023 Physics

While preparing for JEE Physics, students must concentrate on seven topics that they find difficult. With this blog, we hope you can gain a better understanding of these topics and be better prepared for your entrance exam.

  • Heat and Thermodynamics

There is no doubt that it is one of the most difficult topics for JEE Main Physics, but it is also one of the most important. Often, students find it difficult to answer questions related to a topic if they do not understand its application. There are two main areas of Heat and Thermodynamics: Conduction and Convection (heat transfer). These can be difficult concepts, even though they might seem like something that would come naturally when thinking about hot objects touching cold surfaces or heated air rising. Convection is a concept of Thermodynamics based on fluid dynamics and is vital for understanding the weather. In this case, you will be looking at how hot air rises from the ground due to lower pressure in certain areas, compared with high pressure beneath cold objects. While studying these processes further, students should learn about entropy and its role when things heat up or cool down. There they need to apply their knowledge of energy conservation and thermodynamic processes, such as evaporation vs condensation.

  • Mechanics

Physics is not just about equations and theory in JEE Main. It is very important to understand the concepts you are learning, which is why studying this topic before your exam date is so important. In Mechanics, students learn how forces interact with each other and elicit reactions in different objects under various conditions – such as an object falling off a table or hitting something hard enough to cause it to move.

JEE mechanics is about fundamental laws like Oscillations, Newton’s law of motion, collisions, torque/rotational motion, and work and energy. Physics is composed of all these laws, so it is essential to fully understand the basics of mechanics before moving on to more complex topics.

  • Electrostatics and Magnetism

As both topics deal with the forces of attraction and repulsion between objects, they are related. In almost every engineering course, Electrostatics is a very important topic. This topic in the syllabus involves a lot of concepts that need to be understood by students. The questions are pretty much straight forward without any twists. So, it is possible to score well in this area if you can grasp the conceptual aspects.

  • Current Electricity

It is an important topic of JEE Main Physics that is linked to a wide variety of engineering disciplines. Current Electricity is all about how electric currents flow through objects and produce a voltage in a circuit as per different laws. It also includes circuits, resistance, and circuits with capacitors or inductors.

  • Optics

Optics is the study of light. It is one of the most difficult topics to understand since it requires students to understand waves, especially how they interact with objects. You will also learn about reflection, refraction, interference patterns generated by waves, lenses, and mirrors.

  • Modern Physics

For Modern Physics, students will study more complicated topics such as Quantum Mechanics (wave-particle duality), relativity (e.g., length contraction), nuclei/subatomic particles like protons and neutrons that create an atom’s nucleus with electrons orbiting around them to determine its chemical properties, etc.

  • Electromagnetic Induction

It might be a little tricky to understand Electromagnetic Induction. It is also one of the most important topics in the Physics JEE syllabus. Having a lack of conceptual understanding makes it difficult for students to answer questions from this chapter. The direction of the electromagnetic field and induced emf should be clearly understood by students.

There is more to JEE Main Physics than just memorising equations and learning concepts. In addition to understanding how they work in real life, it is also important to understand how their applications work.

A thorough understanding of the JEE Main syllabus is also essential, as different subjects and topics carry different weightages. And it will help you to create a more accurate and fruitful study plan.
