ICSE Physics Class 9
ICSE CLASS 9: AN OVERVIEW
ICSE Class 9 is one of the most vital grades amongst all the other grades. Students will have to focus on each subject because this grade lays the foundation for higher classes. Those who want to appear for competitive examinations must start preparing from class 9. When it comes to reputation, ICSE ICSE tops the list of boards. The CISCE always believes in giving the best quality of education to the students.
SpeEdLabs has designed the relevant study materials and solutions for ICSE Class 9 strategically so that it becomes easier for the students to grasp the knowledge fast and convey it efficiently. SpeEdLabs strictly follows the curriculum provided by CISCE to offer the perfect study materials for students to excel in their academics efficiently.
Below we have provided all the information regarding ICSE Class 9 exams for the academic years 2021-2022.
Chapter-1 Measurements and Experimentation
This chapter is a very simple yet important one that covers subtopics like units of measurement of length, mass, time, importance and applications of units in problems, derivation of units and set of problems based on that for better understanding. Also, the concept of vernier callipers and screw gauge is introduced here, i.e., the definition of least count, the principle of vernier, the principle of the screw, measurement of both time and length, followed with few simple problems, and also diagrams for a clear and thorough understanding of the concepts.
Chapter-2 Motion in one dimension
This chapter is another important and simple one that covers topics like scalar and vector quantities, terms like distance, displacement, velocity, acceleration, speed, etc, their respective definitions, formulas, and simple problems following to understand the concepts better. Also, displacement, velocity, acceleration graphs with respect to time are discussed in this chapter.
Chapter-3 Laws of Motion
This is one of the vast and high-priority chapters where topics like Newton’s three laws are covered deeply followed by problems and experiments if need be. From an examination point of view, this chapter has huge weightage. The topics like contact, non-contact forces, mass, inertia, Newton’s first law of motion with the statement and its explanation, definition of linear momentum with its definition, changes, and rate of change in momentum provided with a set of examples for better understanding. Also, Newton’s second law and third law, terms like the universal law of gravity, the force due to gravity, acceleration due to gravity, CGS and SI units of force, mass, weight, etc are well discussed under this chapter.
Chapter-4 Pressure in fluids and Atmospheric pressure
This chapter discusses topics like laws of liquid pressure, pascal’s law with its applications, the meaning of hydraulic machines with examples, definition of atmospheric pressure, demonstration and common consequences, its measurement, variation of atmospheric pressure concerning altitude, use of barometer, altimeter, terms like thrust and pressure, etc are clearly and deeply explained in this chapter.
Chapter-5 Upthrust in Fluids, Archimedes’ Principle and Floatation
This chapter is more or less the continuation of the previous chapter, in addition to topics like buoyancy, the definition of upthrust, its properties, applications and reasons to use it, Archimedes principle, its experiment with valid verification, terms like density, relative density, also, the most important topic, principle of floatation, its applications followed with a set of problems and experiments for better understanding of the concepts.
Chapter-6 Heat and Energy
This chapter is another important and easy unit where topics like heat, temperature, thermal expansion, the definition of anomalous expansion, its experiment, consequences, etc are clearly explained with problems. Also, sources of energy l.e., both renewable and non-renewable sources with their respective definition and examples, the production of electricity through solar, nuclear, and wind energy, the concept of energy degradation, greenhouse effect, global warming, etc are explained under this chapter.
Chapter-7 Reflection of Light
This chapter is an experimental and interactive unit covering quite interesting topics. The topics like a reflection of light, laws of reflection, image formation by reflection, plane mirror, inclined mirrors, terms like lateral inversion, the definition of a plane mirror with its application, spherical mirror, its uses and applications, ray diagrams of the image formation, the definition of concave and convex mirrors along with differences and examples are discussed in detail. This is very important and can be expected from at least one question from an exam point of view.
Chapter-8 Propagation of Sound waves
This chapter covers topics like the definition of sound, its propagation, various medium of modes of transmission, the relationship between wavelength, wave velocity, the frequency with its related problems, terms like infrasonic and ultrasonic with their definitions, properties, and applications, and also provided with simple and basic problems at the end of each topic for better understanding.
Chapter-9 Current Electricity
This chapter involves topics like sources of direct current, the definition of electric current, circuit symbols, terms like insulators, conductors, closed circuits, open circuits, the flow of electrons between the conductors, followed with problems based on simple formulas and their derivations, also electrical resistance, efficient use of energy are also discussed here in detail.
Chapter-10 Magnetism
This chapter covers topics like induced magnetism, the definition of the magnetic field, lines of the magnetic field, its properties, plotting of uniform and non-uniform, electromagnet, permanent magnet, its advantages, applications followed with problems for better understanding of the concepts.
