“Allow your passion to become your purpose, and one day it will become your profession” Gabriel Bernstein.

As a student, you must be having some or other passion. Different people can have different passions like photography, music, etc., and they can change with time or with developing maturity. Being passionate is very important because it motivates you to continue practising and striving for mastery.

The passion within the profession: Need of the hour

Turning your passion into a profession is the best decision that you can make. It is because you must love doing those things for which you put in so many hours and exert so much mental and physical effort. Numerous research studies have demonstrated that pursuing a career that also happens to be your passion leads to increased job satisfaction, growth, and performance. So, in this blog, we will be discussing the roadmap of interest to the profession.

Working in your passion may be fantastic. On the other hand, certain confusions are present with the same as lack of assistance, etc. To make a great profession out of your interest, you will need to think honestly, research well, and move quickly.

Below mentioned are a few points that can help you with mutuality between passion and profession:

  • Explore well and then decide: Students generally are passionate about multiple things like Vlogging and writing, singing and dancing, etc. But a career is meant to be a single choice, and hence, you must narrow down your passion. Try doing everything you like for some time and then choose the best out of them. Remember, every profession is equivalent, and you can be successful in every choice that you make. All that matters is your dedication to your job, as well as a bit of effort.

  • Learn to differentiate between hobby and passion: You undoubtedly like a wide range of activities, but not all of them are your true passion. A passion involves an element of ability or giftedness in addition to an activity that you like. This activity is a hobby that is something that you do when you have free time. On the other hand, passion is something for which you find time and do it regularly.

  • Assess your ability to complete the task: Examine how committed you are to putting in the effort required to turn a passion into a career. A job generally entails doing something regularly and efficiently, so consider if you have the necessary skills to combine your love with your profession. Learn to work properly towards your passion so that the work done can be structured and well planned.

Let us understand this with the help of an example. Suppose there is a student A whose passion is in the field of drones. He is an expert in building and testing drones, but he is more interested in procrastination or the act of delaying or postponing tasks needlessly. This behaviour will get him nowhere because if he wants to be a professional in this industry, he has to practice for a significant period every day and find someone who can tell him if he is doing it correctly.

  • Check whether there is a market for your passion: We are talking about an individualized viewpoint here. Your passion may be extraordinary, and it may also be a good career option, but it is useless unless it is marketable and lucrative. Try to get feedback from as many individuals as you can about your idea and fill out their questionnaires so that you may enter the market fully prepared.

  • Make an appointment for an informative interview with someone who is currently doing the job: Begin by approaching people you already know and asking if you may speak with them about their work. Use the internet and seek a mutual acquaintance for an introduction. Still, if you are not aware of anyone according to your field, try going to associations, conferences, industry events, etc.

  • Choose between a job and starting your own company: As the name suggests, this is an essential factor to consider while deciding whether or not to follow your passion as a job. Businesses involve risk but, if you take it, even the sky is not the limit. On the other hand, a private job assures a safe working environment and job security as well.

  • Research and study: To be taken seriously, all you need to do is become a subject expert. Having a unique ability may not be enough to qualify you as an expert, so get the qualifications you need to be marketable. You can go with an online or offline class according to your convenience if you are busy with other kinds of stuff but, becoming a professional is necessary.
