ICSE Chemistry Class 8

ICSE CLASS 8: AN OVERVIEW

The Indian Certificate Examination Council, established in 1958, offers the ICSE curriculum (Indian Council of Secondary Education). The ICSE syllabus focuses on applying principles learned, whereas the CBSE syllabus focuses on learning and retaining theoretical material. While most chapters are identical to those taught in CBSE, the ICSE syllabus provides the most depth and immersion in each. The ICSE class 8 program is good to help students prepare for a comprehensive program and mandatory topics in the upper grades.

The system’s primary components are the utilization of data and the development of analytical abilities. Class eighth serves as a year of preparation for students in Classes ninth and tenth who have enrolled themselves in the ICSE program. Students take English as a first language, French or Hindi as a second language, and courses such as Mathematics, History, Civics and Geography, Science (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology), Natural Sciences, and Computer Studies cover core subjects.

Chapter-1 Matter

The topics like the fundamental postulates of the kinetic molecular theory of matter.
matter state change based on inter particulate space and inter particulate attraction and collision is explained in detail here along with the law of conversion of mass i.eThe statement followed with an explanation.

Chapter-2 Atomic Structure

The concepts about subatomic particles like atom, particle, neutron, electron, nucleus and their importance, atomic number and mass number and their functionality and the characteristics are explained in detail here with suitable examples and pictorial representation for better understanding.

Chapter-3 Language of Chemistry

This chapter explains the basic to advanced concepts of basic chemistry like symbols and formulas of various elements and compounds, chemical equations and balancing and analyzing those chemical equations, the law of conservation of mass, applications of law on the particular chemical equation are a few important topics discussed in here with suitable examples and exercises for practice purposes.

Chapter-4 Chemical Reactions

Starting with the definitions of the terms like the combination, decomposition, displacement, double displacement, and also classification of oxides based on acids, bases, neutral, amphoteric is discussed in detail here. Apart from that, definition and functionality of relativity series, prediction of the relativity of metals, proving metal oxides are basic and non-metal oxides are acidic with the help of experiments, decomposition, and neutralization of chemical reactions are also well-explained topics in this chapter with examples and experiments for better understanding.

Chapter-5 Carbon and its Compounds

Here in this chapter, the topics are both theoretical and practical concepts. The concepts like physical and chemical properties and general properties of carbon dioxide, acidic nature, reaction with lime water, crystallization, and allotropes of carbon with its definition and explanation are discussed here with suitable examples and experiments for better and clear understanding.

Solved Examples For Chemistry Class 8

The ICSE course structure is designed in a manner to ensure that students do not go through a lot of pressure, moreover, books are made interactive and interesting for students to enjoy their studies. A lot of fun activities are included in between the chapters to help students learn in a playful way. It makes the process of conveying knowledge to the students efficient and healthy.
